And don't forget Presonus. I think the best one is the one that fits your budget and needs. If you're only recording 1 guitar track at a time, you don't need a Thunderbolt interface, which will be more expensive. USB will be fine. Be aware that Mac's have USB 3, so USB 2, with slower speeds, might give you data under-runs. Easily fixed with a hub, which is also a convenient thing to have around.

I’ve had GarageBand installed on one iPad or another for five years, and because my BR800 came with a 120-page book telling me how to work it while GarageBand didn’t, I’ve been somewhat scared of it all this time. If you're planning to record more tracks simultaneously in the future, you should definitely consider Thunderbolt. But then you're going to want more inputs, too. If your needs are likely to remain small, go with a cheaper alternative. I think they're all pretty good. I don't know about the iRig, but people love Apogee and Focusrite and Presonus.

While many would argue that the only way to accurately capture an electric guitar performance is by mic’ing up your amplifier and hitting record, in my latest video I share 3 ways that you can directly input your guitar into your Mac so that you can record it in GarageBand.
